A television advert for East Durham College from 2013
It features a montage of students, each stating their hopes for the future. Cutting in between clips of said students working/learning as well as B-roll footage of statistics about the college. All of this is backed by an upbeat track up till the end where they cut between a few students saying a sort of slogan. The end screen displays the college logo and the URL for their website.
I personally like the involvement of numerous students and having them voice over a clip of themselves being active and also directly addressing the camera. The slow tracking shots also help the montage sequences feel more active and if possible, I would love to work those into our project.
An advert from Sunderland College from 2016
This advert is a lot more dramatic in tone while remaining with fewer content in comparison to the previous advert. The slow-motion shots and backing track establish this tone within the advert giving the impression that the students featured in the advert are doing great and even impressive things without having to blatantly tell the audience. I would prefer if out video kept a similar tone to this one. However, I wouldn’t exactly say it is too memorable due to the lack of any voice.
Hartlepool College advert from 2012
Another advert featuring slow-motion shots. Accompanied with classical keys juxtaposed with a man parkouring and sprinting through their college facilities, allowing them to show off what they have to offer as well as a taste of action to keep the audience watching. While eye catching and interesting, I’m unsure if the more art like attempt at a promotional video is what I’d be looking to replicate.
